Dr. O and/or all,
What would cause my horse to suddenly have very dark green manure, hard in consistancy, yet she is eating, acting normally? The girl that cleans her stall said she only had 3 'piles' this AM which would be a 14 hour period of time. Thoughts please? Many thanks, Shirley

Personally, I would get give her about 15 minutes of grazing green grass and lunge her lightly at the trot to get things moving around --- just in case....I AM a worry wart (;).

Did she finish her food? Is she drinking?

Yes, grazing is a good idea or take her for a ride in the trailer (works every time)

3 piles (if normal size) and dark green sound pretty normal to me. If the stools are becoming harder, there can be many causes some of which are normal. Review the management and if everthing looks normal quit worrying but keep watching.
