Posted on Friday, Jul 23, 2004 - 9:14 pm: HiMy horse had a bad cut on his corinet band about a month ago. No lameness etc . Its healing nicely but had some proud flesh. I cut it off today as I could not get the vet out and did not want to put caustic powders on. It bled like crazy. I put pressure on till it stopped and covered it to protect it from flies. Does it need a firm bandage? Its in a hard place to wrap. I put a diper on to keep it clean however this does not have firm pressure. Is this ok. I put antibiotic creme on after cleaning it with nolvasan. I just want to check I am doing the right thing. The bleeding scared me a little. Did not know when it would stop. Thank goodness it did. Guess i was just checking from you I did the right thing as I could not get a vet out. His wound still needs recutting as I only cut a part that was growing like crazy. Beacause of its position its a hard to treat wound. I will get the vet out if I cant keep it under control. If it were in a different place I would have no problems dealing with this. His hoof is growing as he had two slices one to the hoof wall and one to the corrinet. Goodness knows how this happenned. Thanks Dr O Katrina |

If it is proud flesh can we put prouds off on it. We are using Nolvasan cleaner and cream on it and wrapping it. The pictures are hard to see but the cut is on the mares cannon bone, just below the knee. It is beyond the surface of the leg, so I thought it would be proud flesh. |

I almost had it whipped when he evidently opened it back up in the snow. In just one application it removed 1/2 of it. Best stuff I have ever used. www.equade.com They have a money back guarantee that I won't have to use. EO |

Before I put anything on it, to eat it away. I wanted to make sure it was proud flesh. And that we are wrapping it. It does bleed very easy like granulation. Sorry I thought this would be the place to continue with the discussion. I will try to be more careful of that in the future. Thank You Dr O Hilma Little King Ranch I have equade, I bought it a couple of years ago for a horse that had proud flesh on the coronary band. But the owner of the barn told me not to use it. I will see if I can still find it. Thank you Hilma |
