I've been looking all over this site to find out about normal gut sounds. My Paint's gut sounds can be audible without a stethescope. I want to know if this is normal or something to be concerned about. He does nip at his belly alot but he's done this since I've had him (about 2 months now). He has no S/S of colic. On occasion he has loose stools, not watery though. He doesn't have large bowel movements like my mare but he goes twice as much as her and half the amount. Most of the time his stool is formed and normal. Like to hear your thoughts on this.

Kelly try clearing your cookies, temporary internet files, and history to see if you can fix this. I presume you type in an appropriate title that your computer changes? Yes some horses have gut sounds audible from outside and by itself not a cause of concern however with just 2 months he may still be adjusting to your feeding regimen. You might review our article on Overview of Feeding to see if anything looks amiss with what you are doing now. DrO

I'll try clearing my history. I always change the topic section prior to posting but I have to do it in two places before it accepts the new subject. I'll look at your article and compare with what I am using. I think, as a nurse, sometimes I worry and analyze things too much for my own good. Thanks for your help.

I got what you are saying I think: you have to change it when you first type in the title and then again at the review/edit screen. If after clearing all your "history/cookies/temporary internet files" you still have the problem you may need to disable your autocomplete option in your browser. What browser and version are you using? DrO

Yeah that's what's been happening. I am using Netscape 7.0 and it asked me one time if I wanted the computer to remember the values filled in and I accidentally clicked yes. I think that's the problem. I am gonna try to figure out how to disable it.
