Hi Dr. O.
Thanks for the article on low heel correction. Is there ever a time when the Equilox can be used without a shoe, or is there an acrylic designed for shoeless application? I am not doing any corrections in my barn, but want to continue my learning curve... Stacy

Hello Stacy,
It depends on the amount used. I have seen small repairs that stood alone with no problem. Large applications should have a shoe to protect it. You also have to take into account the use of the horse. Standing in a soft stall will be different than horses that are ridden over hard surfaces. So where to draw the line? Considering expense and time lost if there is any question it will hold, from the experience of the person applying it, I would protect it. Use his experience because while I have seen some who can really get this to work well there are others who have difficulty applying it. The preparation and horse cooperation are key to a good application.
