I recently purchased an 18 mon.old quarter horse. I noticed a white spot on her iris. Is this anything I should be concerned with?

Hello Deborah,
there are white spots and then there is chronic inflammatory induced hypopigmentation and cancer. Considering the age it is likely nothing but I would have it looked at by a vet to be sure.

Hello Debra: If you are talking about an eye issue, please don't let it go. Get your vet out right away to look at it. I let a white spot go only over night in my mare and in the morning her whole eye was completely and opaque and two thousand dollars and one eye blind later I'll never wait on eye issues again. She still is battling the disease almost 5 months later... Don't mean to scare you, but eye disease can move like lightening! Good luck. CS

Cynthia, it sounds like you had a white spot on the cornea which appeared there, while Debra has a spot on the iris which has been there, the list of rule outs is different.
