When I went to the corral yessterday morn I found my horse quite lame.
When he rook a step he only put perhaps 25% weight on his foot.
I think the soreness originates in his muscle a bit below the poiint of his rump.
My question is; if this is the location of injury would his fetlock swell? He is holding that foot up, just resting the toe on the ground.
Thanks

The question should be Lori, why do you think it is the rump and not the fetlock which is swollen. Foot abscesses often cause swelling up the lower leg and make a horse reluctant to put the foot down.
