DrO, is hyaluronic acid also known as hyanate (sp?)? I ask as my mare's knee was injected with "hyanate" and cortisone today by the vet after intrarticular anesthesia indicated that her lameness originated from her knee and he found very little sinovial fluid in the joint. I haven't been able to find mention of it on the site. Thanks!

Hyaluronate is the same as hyaluronic acid and these are chemical or generic names. Perhaps Hyanate is a name brand, but I don't know for what. DrO

Thanks for your reply. I've managed to track it down: it is in fact hyaluronic acid, is made by Bayer, and has recently been approved for intravenous use in the US and Canada. The spelling is "Hyonate".

Good Homework Lynn! . I am sure it is alright to post even after you have investigated and found the answer. It helps others who may not know. Susan B.
