I have a four year old, 16.3 hand Dutch gelding who has developed what the vets are calling a "abnormal splint". It is deemed abnormal because of it's placement forward on Tucker's right front. We're considering shock wave therapy to smooth out the bump (there appears to be dip in the bump, possibly two splints. There's no fracture and the site is cool and non-painful upon palpation. Has there been any studies or information on use of shock wave for splints?

Thank you. Barbara

There is nothing published Barbara. Is this exostosis on the splint or the cannon and is what was seen radiographically? Also is there any lameness associated with it?
