I have a 3 year old gelding that I have been treating for sarcoids for over 2 years. the sarcoids are localized to the base of his right ear, we have removed surgically, cryo'd, lasered, and used chemo cream. I am now trying xxterra with some success. It has helped remove 2 of the smaller sarcoids but the main sarcoid which is about a penny or smaller in size keeps coming back. I have been applying xxterra for 4 days and than waiting for the scab to fall off and applying again. Which is basically every three weeks. The bottle recommends re-application every 10 to 14 days, my question is, would it be more effective to apply the xxterra even if the scab is still there? Is there any way other than manually ripping the scab free (I do not really want to do that) to get the scab to fall off sooner? I feel like if I put the xxterra on top of the scab that it won't really be getting to the sarcoid. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Hello Susanne,
If the scab thick and the tumor obviously still present I would remove it and apply as per instructions. Soaking with warm water may be help to remove the scab.
