I've noticed in my horse's sole that there is an odd smell - it reminds me of wet corn silk. There isn't any black goo, so I don't think it is thrush - could it be a start? He is in a paddock all day that is very muddy (long wet winter). I see him 5 days a week and always pick out his feet, but he's back to standing in the mud the next day. He seems a little sensitive to me picking out the foot at times. I have been using Thrushbuster about once a week, but I am concerned if there could be sensitive tissue I can't see. He's not lame. Any idea what this is and how to treat it?

Thanks.

As long as all you have is the odor, I am not sure you have anything to worry about Nadia. The cure is to find a dryer environment for those feet.
