Dr. O or anybody . .. I went to the Minnesota Horse Fair this weekend. So did a gazzillion other people - Yikes it was crowded. I came across a product called Horsetrax hoof pads. They claim it is "like putting tennis shoes on your horse". They say they reduce the impact by 5000 psi. My question is, would something like this be a good investment for Levi, my club footed horse with the rotated coffin bone, and short sole depth? He is going off for training in May, where he will be working harder. My farrier took him off of the rocker shoe and put him in a regular type aluminum shoe with a raised heel. He seems to be getting along. In fact my trainer came and evaluated him. She said he looked more balanced than he did the whole time she had him last year. So I am keeping my fingers crossed. Has anyone had any experience with these pads?
thanks

It is the old problem Susan: do I protect (but weaken) the sole with a pad? I think I would get the vet, farrier, and new trainer to discuss the strength of the foot vs the increased work load to see what is the likely consensus.
