Dr O
Thank you for all the answers I'm sure your glued all day to your computer. I have reviewed the info on UR leg problems. Yesterday, a new farrier in trimming my older Arab mare said she had stifle problem in the rear. She hesitates giving in to pressure and lifted her leg high and also held it up for a long while after the guy let her go. I'm thinking the locked position is when they are straight up and down with full weight? I rode her one day over the weekend but that is a rarety. She's barefoot and always has been turned out 24/7. She's very dry but the farrier said she was okay in the feet maybe a little low in the heels. He swears I will see a "wearing" difference in a couple of weeks. When I had the vet out last he said her front feet are developed ringbone. It doesn't seem to end. Do you recommend Chiro? I have bute on hand and only give it after I ride and not regularly. There doesn't seem to be heat or swelling anywhere and she walks fine; trots with a head bob and seems off. I have given two old girls a home with an occasional outing so just looking at keeping them "okay" without expensive vet bills. She is a little chunky and that's because I do not exercise her enough to keep weight off and I know at least I think I know) I am not over feeding them - at least by weight of the hay. She's on one flake of Alfalfa am/pm with 2 cups 10% protein bermuda pellet. I have a TB and presently my neighbors horse so its spread out that way to all. I also posted about the white spots appearing all of a sudden. Thanks.

No I don't find the farrier's notion that the horse holds the leg up a bit different or the vet's though that ringbone might be developing an indication for chiropractic adjustment.

Thank you, does anyone else have any chiropratic views for possible stifle problem?

Does the foot of the injured leg, turn out? Is the sacrum/hip area sore?
