I am wondering if you have ever suggested or heard of anyone using Adequan, 1x/month for controlling recurrent uveitis outbreaks? My horse is suffering from his second flare up since early May. He is being treated by a equine opthamologist but I just read on another website about using adequan to control flare ups and am wondering if anyone has done this successfully? Thanks.

No Sue, I have not heard of it and checking PubMed there is no published research on the subject. The lack of research and a sensible mechanism of action it strikes me as a very expensive experiment with very little chance of a benefit.

Interesting, I have never used Adequan, but my old mare gets IV Legend occasionally and it seems to have an anti-inflammatory action, doesn't seem to last real long but it SEEMS to help her way more than bute of banamine for about a week anyway?

Thanks for the feedback. I know when I was using Adequan for arthritis the effects lasted about a week. I will stay away from this for uveitis.
