hello:

i have noticed my horse's muzzle twitching occasionally, it looks like a spasm and like he can't control it. it is very slight and doesn't seem to be bothering him when it happens.

he doesn't have anything else that looks abnormal. most of the time his muzzle doesn't twitch.

what could this be?

Thank you

Hi Joanne

A horse at our yard shows exactly the same muzzle twitching. Worried me initially but horse is fine and has been for several years. Is not constant and there don't appear to be an precipitating factors.

Thank You Jenny.

i have noticed it since i'v had him (5 years) and i always thought it was nothing since other than that he was fine. so i let it go, then i decided i would just ask :P

nice to know that it is probably nothing, and ignoring it all this time was ok :-)

I agree this is a common muscle tic you see of horses that appears to have no adverse consequences.
