DrO,

The horse of a friend of mine has a fracture of the Supraglenoid Tubercle. I'm having trouble finding information on the bone and it's function. I'm wondering if you (or anyone) could point me to an article on the basic anatomy?

Thanks,
Wiley

Hello Wiley,
We do not have a detailed image of the shoulder. The supraglenoid tubercle is a small extension to glenoid of the scapula. The glenoid and its associated tubercle make up the socket into which the humerus fits and therefore is part of the shoulder joint itself. If I remember my developmental anatomy right it has a separate center of ossification and until it ossifies may appear as a separate piece of bone.
