Dr. O -- I have recently returned from a 6 week trip during which time I had hired care for the horses who did not accompany me. Since returning, I've noticed that my bay Arabian has a white opaque spot in the corner of his eye (on the black part in the front corner) that looks like that recently pictured on this site, which turned out to be SCC. You had stated that typically SCC does not appear as shown in the picture, and could also be related to habroema. I am heartsick about this, and am wondering if I should call my regular equine Vet. to handle this, or should I take him somewhere that specializes in equine eyes? Are there any "odds" about it being SCC in this location with the opaque, white appearance? Flies have been horrid this year, and it is unlikely my boys had their fly masks on much when I was away. I know that before I left town there was a lot of fly irritation going on. This boy has had, in the last couple of years, sensitive eyes, with a sticky but clear discharge. He is a 16-year-old gelding.

Never mind, Dr. O -- Had my regular equine Vet check Perry's eye, and what APPEARED to be a raised white lesion on black conjunctiva was a V-shaped piece of cartilage.
