Hello, I was reading through recent posts on this thread and my thoughts and prayers go out to anyone who is faced with this challenging problem. It is good to read that so many horses have had good outcomes even when the situation at the start seemed very severe. Someone mentioned that a hoof wall and the "true" apex of the frog should be marked before an X-ray to get a useful picture. I'm not sure, how would this be done? Could a horse owner do it before a vet arrives to save the vet some time (and make sure it gets done before the X-ray)? Thanks for the insights from those who've "been there" and are willing to share their experiences. Regards, MaryS

Hello Mary, To clearly mark these areas on the radiograph I conform a piece of supple lead wire to the toe wall and tape it in place. For the apex of the fron place a tack in that part of the frog. DrO
