DrO,
I've read the article on navicular synDrOme, but when it comes to treatment it only refers to horses with low underrun heels and long toes. Since horses with good conformation and normal feet can also suffer from this are the same principles applied to them of raising the heel with wedge pads and bringing the toe back?

Hello s.miley,
The navicular article talks about the goal of trimming and shoeing is to obtain a well balanced state. If the feet are well balanced to begin with I would be slow to unbalance them but exceptions exist.
