Posted on Wednesday, Feb 4, 2009 - 8:55 pm: I thought I would post this here. I had no idea where else to do it. I wanted to share this with you all..https://community.equineoutreach.com/2009/01/buttercup/#comment-485 Please read about this poor horse. Butter cup was found at the Indian rev north of us. I sent the prayer request I had gotten on to a dear friend. Marsha has driven the 60 some miles everyday since Saturday I think to pray for buttercup and give her loves. Here is the latest update and a scary one.... Prayed with Buttercup again. I have a terrible voice, but sang low to her. She was eating, but midway through Amazing Grace, she stopped and put her head next to me. Then I sang Jesus, there is something about that name...she stayed. I talked with her while praying, and she stayed, got kisses, and pats. One of the caretakers came up and asked if she was ok because she was watching and Buttercup never moved away from me. I told her she was fine, I was just singing to her. The lady said she has not rested with anyone here like that...I told her it was God that kept her resting. We need to stand together against the enemy who will try to take away her healing. Tomorrow she is getting xrays on her shoulder and leg. If there are any fractures, she will probably be put down. I will be there to hear the results, but please stand on her healing with me. Will let you know what I hear ASAP. Buttercup is getting email from all over with so many prayers. It is awesome to read these. Please past this story onto all your friends. We need prayer warriors for this poor baby. |

I'd like to reiterate that those of us who can spare the money or time need to do what we can to help these rescue groups. As the economy worsens, the need will be greater than ever. |

Posted on Wednesday, Feb 4, 2009 - 10:17 pm: The sad thing is...they left a horse just like her up there because it had a brand. If the animal has a brand the rescue groups can't take the animal. My friend said the rescue group said that there are a bunch of horses that are starving at Warm Springs. But not a thing can be done. Pretty sad. We have 3 major equine rescue groups in our area. They each have over 100 horses. Hay prices have been well over $200 a ton for a couple of years here. Then you have a economy in Oregon that is in the toilet. I have no extra money I can give right now. But plan on donating a quilt to raffle off. |

Posted on Thursday, Feb 5, 2009 - 5:21 pm: Just received this wonderful news!Prayers answered!!! Thanks Tami, Buttercup is so much better today. The vets and staff from Bend Equine came out and put her sore leg in a cast so she can be released from the sling today. They took blood and gave her meds and when I left, she was a happy camper....you could see her relax while being able to give her good leg a rest standing on her cast. Tonight, she will be able to lay down in her stall, and they will get her up in the morning. She is gaining weight, and now, when you brush her she actually shines a bit. We were all so fearful that today would be her last day with us. The vet was to determine whether or not the leg was fractured....he said that he didn't think so, and put on the cast. He said horses do very well in these casts and learn to get up and down on their own in a very short time....however, since she is so weak, they will help her for a couple of days. Tami, I KNOW God has His hand on her. Even her bad eye is actually starting to look normal again. I got my picture taken with her, so when I get it I will send it on. Thanks for the God support, the best support she can get. |

Posted on Thursday, Mar 5, 2009 - 9:24 pm: Even better update. She is with other horses now.Update from my friend that I sent her the original information on ButterCup asking for Marsha to pray for this poor baby. Hi Friends, For those of you who do not know Buttercup aka Grace, she is a horse that was starved an abused on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. How did I get to know her? A friend sent me an email on this abused horse that was 700 pounds underweight, crippled, full if ticks, and had a severely injured eye. I ignored looking at the pictures since I get sad and angry when I see an abused animal. Then God spoke to me. You need to pray with her, He said. With her? That would mean I would have to see her. All evening He weighed heavy on my heart to go to this horse, and also told me He wanted to heal her. Now, I have to extend out my Faith, and go. At first visit, I just wanted to cry...she could hardly lift her head, her eye was bleeding and swollen, and she showed bones I didn't even know horses had. Well, I prayed. Every day for two weeks, I prayed for this horse. One leg ended up in a make shift cast, and the Vet said there wasn't much hope....the old saying with horses is....no feet, no horse. Now it has been three weeks, and today I went to her hospital stall to visit, and Grace (renamed by God) was not there. It was empty, and the fencing was gone. My heart jumped with despair....God? You said You wanted to heal her. I then ran to the office to see if there were any notes about her....nothing. There was a board with all the horses names and their locations.....I tried to fine her name, but couldn't. Now, in my heart, I knew that God had spoken to me, and that He said He would heal her. God does not make false promises. At that very second, there was her name. Chuck came in and said he had found her, so we ran out to see her in a stall eating with the other horses! She walked over to me, and her leg was fine. Her eye is clear, and he has the good old attitude of a mare...you horse people will understand. Grace is now a horse again. Sure, she has weight to gain, but as she does she will get stronger. I will visit tomorrow, and get some pictures. Now, He has drawn me to a mare named Ember. Ember is worse off than Grace when she first came, but as I prayed with her, she rested her muzzle in my hands and closed her eyes and just listened. God loves us and our animals. He can heal all things, and when we ask, in His name, He loves to answer us. I had to write this to give Him the credit, and to be bold in His name. Thank You Jesus! |

Posted on Thursday, Mar 5, 2009 - 9:36 pm: Tami,Thank you for sharing this. Sometimes the healings come in our leaving this Earth, but if it's not our time to leave, then often, the healings come this side of Heaven. Grace has more to do here. Your friend has the gifts of faithfulness and courage . . . That's a good friend. |
