I've used IRAP the past 2 years for my (now) 14 year old mare with pretty significant DJD. Prior to using IRAP, we were having to inject all joints in the hock quarterly. We were using the non-steroidal stuff to minimize the amount of scar tissue, to the tune of about $4,000 per year. We decided in 2007 to switch to IRAP, and my mare was super sound, the treatment lasting a full year (it could have gone longer but I wanted to be cautious). Xrays from 2007 - 2008 showed significantly less degradation of the joints anticipated from 2006-2007, with a decent amount of synovial fluid left in the joints when we went to re-inject her. Previously, we'd find virtually no fluid in either of her hocks. This past year the procedure cost around $2,000. the first year was more expensive since he had to do a series of 3 injections; last year he only came out twice. As far as I'm concerned, IRAP has given my horse a new lease on life. She's moving better now than she ever had before. People that I know that have used IRAP say the same thing. In my opinion, it's well worth it!
