Doc- Please excuse all my posts, but am very interested and inquisitive on all your great info and articles on this topic COPD. I never even knew what it was until 2 1/2 years ago, wish I never had to know. I read about the adding oil to the diet, and being the great (grin) mathametician (and speller) I am, was hoping I didn't have to really figure out my COPD horses fat intake. I'd like easy-bottom line suggestion on adding linseed for help w/ inflamation. If I am understanding the issue correctly, it is best to find pressed linseed oil and feed between 4 - 8 oz daily? If I can't find linseed, would canola be ok? I just don't want add uneeded fat. He is not a skinny horse, but like the idea of aiding his COPD inflamation with as few drugs as possible (while of course abiding by the environmental surrounding and feeding issues). Funny... as farmers in CA, we just grew flax for seed. I didn't know it was pressed into linseed! Learn something new everyday. Now I need to find some. Thanks

Canola will not substitute as it is not rich in what is thought to be the active ingredient. DrO

Searching the net to find flax/linseed products I came upon www.horsetech.com a horse nutrition company out of Iowa that really believes in flax. Has anyone ever heard of this company? They (and alot of "happy customers") brag about their wonder product Glanzen, and I was interested in their Nutra-Flax. After reading Dr. O's article on flax, I'd really like to ad it to my COPD's diet. Unless a different form of flax or linseed oil is recommended. Found another Flax (linsdeed) internet site as well that loves its benefits for many many things. Anyone use these products? do horses 'like' it? thanks
