My mare got kicked in the hip by another mare and started bleeding from her vagina, what should i do? I have her separated now and she is eating fine.

Corriene, IMO, I would get a vet out to look at her ASAP. If there is internal damage, it needs to be addressed immedietely.

I totally agree with Fran. This is real blood, right? She didn't just coincidently come into season? Any abnormal bleeding needs to be seen right away. It's possible she could have a tear or detachment somewhere in her reproductive tract or other internal bleeding from injury.

It was definitely real blood. she was bred about 3 weeks ago, so i am assuming that she wont be in foal any more. she is a purebred Morgan and was bred to our purebred Morgan stallion. I kept her separated from all the other horses and she has been eating and drinking well and isn't showing any ill effects.

I am going to have the vet to check her out to make sure she is ok.

Welcome Corriene, It is possible this is vaginal and not cervical or uterine bleeding so there is hope, let us know what the veterinarian finds. DrO
