Hi - my pharmacy sent our pergolide to arrive friday but canada post seems to have misplaced our shipment. She has been without for 2 days now, at what point do I freak out?

She has been on it a month and the dose (1mg) has helped her quite a lot in that time, she is no longer looking so drawn, her urination has normalized, and her laminitis improved dramatically.

Thanks

I went through a similar experience last year when a hurricane hit in Texas near the pharmacy where my pergolide was compounded and shipped from. We were out for nearly 2 weeks. My old mare seemed to do OK. They got us our shipment as soon as they could.

Although there seemed to be no ill effects, we switched to a pharmacy close by ( in NJ ). We switched because we couldn't stand the stress on us.....not because the mare showed any problems.

Whether the interruption in her schedule is troublesome, I really don't know. Dr.O will let us both know.

You don't ever freak out Tamara, after all it is not curative of your horse's Cushing's. Other than a slow return to symptoms you are unlikely to experience any adverse effects unless perhaps your dose is very high. You start your horse back on the regular dosage when you get the medication and plan a little further ahead in the future.
