I treated my gelding for a sarcoid near the girth area 2 months ago. I used Indian mud/blooDrOot black salve. It worked on the sarcoid. I haven't ridden my horse since Thurs. On Thurs I noticed a hard bump that I just thought was a bite, located roughly in the middle of his back. Today I noticed there are three more of these nickel sized hard bumps. On one of them I found a tick. Does anyone know how quickly sarcoids appear? It seems the first one was gradual, but I just don't remember. Do they come on gradually or suddenly? Thanks

Hello Melanie,
Sarcoids that are growing tend to develop to nickel size in weeks to months Melanie. The article HorseAdvice.com » Diseases of Horses » Skin Diseases, Wounds, and Swellings » Bumps / Nodules / Warts / Tumors » Overview of Bumps, Nodules, Warts & Tumors deals with defining characteristics between the different bumps and lumps that horses get.
