Hi There, I've read the great article, can't tell if my horse has got a splint or a windpuff, is there any way to really tell the difference between the two? It is right foreleg, inside tendon sheath, about the size of half a banana. It appeared six months ago just one day I noticed it, seems to go down a bit after work but then comes back to full size next day. Varies in size but not location. Firm. Doesn't seem to pit (but not sure if I've got that right I can push it in a little but it is hard and doesn't seem to leave a mark?!). Is not painful, not warm. Is it bone growth or is it just really hard fluid? Should I xray? Thanks, Kate

Kate, windpuffs are very soft and splint are hard and bony like.
