A friend brought a horse to our stable that is a 4 year old talented mare. I have watched her worked the past few rides and noticed that she is uneven in the rear. Our dressage trainer said that he could feel the unevenness at all gaits. He also ran his fingers down both sides of her croup and she tucked well under herself on one side only, although their was some tucking on the other. She pulled away from pressure on the rt hip and did absolutely no moving from pressure on the left hip. - When we mentioned this to our friend she said that she had been told that the horse was uneven in the rear as early as when she was a yearling. Apparently the vet couldn't find anything at that time. She also doesn't stand up evenly. Tends to want to camp out in the rear. When viewed from the rear (I will try to post a picture), if you draw an imaginary line straight up from her tail, the line comes to the left of the high point of her croup. Although she is out of very "round" bloodlines, her croup looks "tented" - i.e. it comes to a point. That point is to the right of the mid-point of her croup. The dressage trainer strongly recommends referral to a specialist. Any thoughts on this? Ideas re: what this could be and possible treatment options? Thanks! Judy
