How soon after a mild sand colic can one worm??

Dr. O will have to answer this question but I know at least one large animal Vet that I have used would say that the "mild colic" was probably due to worm activity and to worm, and if there is a colic reaction to that, worm again.

I would probably proceed with some caution as I think that even a worm-induced colic could benefit from a period of rest before killing another load of worms but I think that thought on this varies.

What about putting the horse on Sand-Clear to start cleaning out the sand in the system? The vet I use down here in Florida was telling me they ended up with a 5 gallon bucket full of sand with one very sick horse.....how gross is that? We use Sand Clear faithfully down here for one week every month. Good Luck!!

She is done with sand clear. The vet came out twice and her heart rate never got past 35 and no sour smell from tummy.Lots of lip curling and lying down.Think we are past that part its been 10 days. But she is due to be wormed that's why I ask and also WORRIED MOM ITS HER FIRST TIME COLIC IN 19 YRS! :-(

Dr O my worry was sometimes worming seems to cause a colic of its own?? So being paranoid I had to ask don't want to add fuel to the colic.So am guessing by your ?? tis not a concern ??

Yes some horses colic following deworming but far more colic from being wormy.
