My friend has a very old horse, that was off it's feed and skinny as a rail. I suggested she check out information on ulcers, and ask her vet about it. They treated him for several weeks with I think pepcid, and red cell. He is now knocking people out of the way for his gruel. She asked if anyone on the site had heard of a supplement to add to his gruel, she waters down senior feed. any suggestions of either a product, or an ingredient to look for in a product that will prevent the problem?
I read the nutritional section, but my mind started to boggle?

I've had good luck with beet pulp soaked and added to Equine Senior along with a good multivitamin/mineral supplement, a little rice bran, and some corn oil mixed in.

Neigh-lox by Kentucky Performance Products. I have an OTTB for which we tried Omeperazol, Ranitidine, ProBioK, pretty much everything we could think of ~ as soon as he's off he gets the squirts again. With Neigh-lox it's an affordable daily dose (1 scoop daily works for my 17.3h guy) and it controls the ulcers. He's a much happier horse.
