I am rehabbing my gelding from a soft tissue injury and it looks like he's healing nicely. During palpation of his r. cannon I found what is probably a bony and I hope old lateral splint bone enlargement. It is laterally placed and about an inch or so from the top of the bone. My vet had earlier blocked the knee, the last in a series of blocks before he finally concluded he had a soft tissue injury.

If this splint had played a part in the lameness evaluation, would it have been blocked out when the knee was blocked?

Hello ZBGirl,
When blocking the lower carpal joints there can be some leakage to the nerves that travel behind the knees. Usually we worry just about the prox suspensory and check ligament getting blocked but it strikes me as possible that it might block the nerves to the splints. That is why you start low and work your way up to avoid this type confusion.
