my 17 yr old gelding had 2 nose bleeds with 3 weeks of each other. we took him to the vet after the first one because it was severe bleeding. my vet did xrays and told me she thought it was a et. she inserted a large needle and drew fluid out and sent it to the lab. it came back negative for anything bad. 3 weeks later he had another severe nose bleed. we opted to turn him out that that time. we went to visit him 1 month later and found that the left side of his eye was protruding like e.t. the movie. we had the vet look at it and he suggested we get more xrays. the mass has grown and he now is blind. the vet found little cysts on the corner of his eye. after looking at the xrays, the vet now says he possibly has a tumor and she does not want to open him up to do the biopsy because she thinks that if it is indeed a tumor it will shorten his longevity. we are 8 hours from the closest cat scan machine. he has not bleed for 6 weeks now. have you ever heard of a eh pushing the eye out? please advise thank you

Hello Jackie, If the mass has grown into the caudal sinuses and putting pressure on the eye's bony orbit can cause such results. Radiographs to better define size is a good idea but you need a biopsy to determine best therapy and prognosis. DrO
