Hello I am hoping to get some feedback on the cervical radiographs in the below link. The horse is a 9 year old show jumper who presented with two episodes of being unable to lift his head more than 6 inches off the ground, the initial incident occurred overnight and the second incident occurred when the rider had dismounted after a ride. The second incident also resulted in the horse buckling at the knees. https://s1073.photobucket.com/user/SaskJumper2012/library/Cervical%20Rads Do you feel this horse would be a candidate for cervical stabilization surgery and would you be able to utilize neck injections with the amount of arthritis that is present? Thank you in advance!

Welcome Stephanie, The above links appears to be broken. Note that we do not give advice about specific cases, to do a good job of diagnosis and treatment always requires a physical exam. I would be glad to look at the images and describe what I see but often the images presented in this manner are not good enough to make fine but important distinctions. If you are uncertain about the findings or treatment prescribed you should seek a second opinion from a equine orthopedic surgeon. DrO

Hi Dr. O Hopefully this link will work. Yes I understand you can not make a complete diagnosis based on images on the internet but I am just trying to get as many opinions as possible! Thank you! https://s1073.photobucket.com/user/SaskJumper2012/library/Cervical%20Rads

Hello jumper14, I have not it has been quite busy lately. I hope to get to go through them early next week. To work up a set of cervical radiographs from scratch is quite time consuming. DrO
