This just popped out on end of nose between nostrils (6 month new mini colt, appaloosa coat pattern). I am familiar with sarcoids - had a mini mare with them. This bump just came out about 3 days ago. Any suggestions as to what it is and if it needs to be treated? My Sarcoid experience was with something that started very small, so nervous about bumps! We put a mm ruler next to it and was about 3mm - if I measured it correctly. Whitish, no puss, consistency of a wart.

It's too tiny for me to tell what it is, but I can see a little white dot.

I have read of so many wart remedies, and since there are multiple viruses that cause warts, it's no wonder that there are many ways to get rid of them.

I have heard to use Crest on sarcoids . . .
and Head & Shoulders (Zinc Pyrithione), Aloe, Apple Cider Vinegar, etc. on warts. You might try any one of those consistently for several days and see if there is a change. I read that the ACV treatment caused some pain/tingling during the process, so you might want to start with something less irritating.

Mostly, if you see it grow or multiply, you'll know it needs a vet's diagnosis.

Thanks, Holly Wood. The picture was difficult because of reducing the size of the photo, but just to give you an idea of what/where I am talking about.

I used Sacrid salve (supposed to be "all-natural" ingredients) for my other mini with sarcoids and it was rough to do, but amazing results. That was a couple of years ago.

I will try a q-tip and ACV to start and watch it very closely with this guy.

Hello Jeanne,
Considering this is a colt a wart seems likely. The article discusses them fairly completely.

So do I need to consider all that you wrote about being contagious and treating my barn area, etc.? I am not sure if I should be panicking or not! Never had warts before.

First you want to have it checked to be sure it is a wart. If you have other young horses that you wish to prevent from getting warts then yes you should consider the prevention aspects.
