Just spent the entire Monday and part of this morning at a lameness clinic where, finally, we have a better clue of my gelding's off-ness. After numerous ultrasounds, xrays and blocks, my vet has determined the older branch injuries have healed (with some scar tissue) but now the problem is the proximal suspensory. We had been rehabbing all this past year and had gotten up to 4 minutes of trot, for several series with walk in between. With the advent of cold weather my horse seemed worse and my local vet did am exam and referred us to the lameness vet. I am hoping he will be able to heal over time, and he got a shot of bio phos (something used in humans who have osteo) and he also got a shockwave treatment. We are down grading our walk time again (had been up to 1 1/2 hours on trail) and will build up under saddle. This particular vet wants him to use a suspensory shoe - aluminun with a thicker front and a lower heel- for life. Oral Collagen for tissue support - he's noticed an improvement in ligament and tendon injuries in his clinic. I would love some positive feedback from anyone who has experienced a set back or just plain ol healing stories!

Hello PJ, While waiting for someone to respond there are dozens of such stories in this discussion area. Just back up to the article (review it if you have not already) and then the list of discussions is at the bottom. DrO
