DrO do you still use this recipe? (one part formalin (37% formaldehyde), one part betadine, one part pine oil. Probably one part formalin to two parts water would be as effective. Be sure you use it carefully and keep it off your skin. I do not believe applying it to the horn of the foot harms the horse) When dealing with a bad case of thrush, would it be a good idea to put shoes on a horse to help get the frog up off the ground so it can stay drier?

Still my favorite recipe and when I find something better I will edit the article promptly. No I find shoes tend to trap dirt worse than barefoot. DrO

what if the horse is really tender and doesnt want to put weight on the foot with the thrush without shoes??? should i still pull the shoes and bute him while he is being treated for thrush?
