I have a 3 yr old colt that has a large boggy hock. Everything we have tried to date does not seem to work. I have not drained this as past experience shows it will only fill again. He does not seem to be lame on it but I think it may affect his performance. Any ideas?

Hello Carl,
You might try pressure wrapping 24 to 48 hours prior to competitions. The problem is the tissues of the joint capsule have become stretched an do not provide the neccassary back pressure to keep the joint from looking boggy. They make some neoprene hock boots that simplify the process but you have to be very careful about pressure sores, particularly over the Achilles tendon that runs down the back.
