Just got this from my Young Living newsletter. Very interesting reading! News Flash! Virginia Tech researcher, Dr. John L. Robertson details some of the work he is doing with the use of Frankincense oil as a possible treatment for malignant melanoma in horses. This story was also featured on the Paul Harvey radio program at 12:00 noon, yesterday February 1, 2006. Thanks for posting this Bonnie, it certainly is interesting. I have to admit it gets a big ??? from me. The idea that equine melanomas have a lot in common with human melanomas does not jive with my knowledge. While human melanomas appear to be induced by sunlight damage to the cells nucleic acid structures, equine melanoma is a heritable genetic defect. It gets even worse when the researcher states that sunlight may be partially responsible in horses when the most common sites are under the tail and ventral midline. Maybe the catch is in the word malignant, a uncommon form of melanoma in horses. Maybe the presentation is different than common melanomas and I just don't see them often enough. Other than that lets hope that Chili's experiences were not incidental and their are more effective treatments in the pipeline for equine and human melanoma. DrO
