Hello Melanie,
Without looking at the radiographs, I cannot comment on most of the questions you have asked. However they have very fine lameness experts there at A&M and I strongly suggest you strongly follow their advice. The demineralization should resolve as you put the horse back to work but you should start very slow and figure it will take you a year to get back to where you were when the accident happend. If the fracture has not resulted in arthritis, and the pieces not displaced, the bone will heal completely. The Advisor Vet, RN Oglesby DVM
