Any medication to help control the allergic reaction? Claritan? What dose? Horse won't take pills or paste is IM ok? Also can't get him to take his worming paste, tried everything. Does a deworming agent exist that can be delivered IM? What dose? How frequent? Thanks Scott |

There is a device that you put on the horse a bit like a halter that helps you squirt the paste in his mouth - sort of like a straw. Your vet can also tube worm him with ivermectin when he/she comes out for spring/fall shots. Then you could put him on daily wormer - Strongid. It is pellets you just put on his feed. As far as the weepy eye, have you tried a fly mask? Sometimes the insects bother their eyes and the mask can help keep some of the dust/pollen from blowing in. Farnham makes a nice one that is fairly easy to fit and put on. Maybe Dr. O will have some suggestions on the worming. Or, your vet may be able to show you a technique for getting the paste it in his mouth. Cheers. |

People tend not to think of this when confronted with a perpetually drippy (clear fluid) eye. The flush is a very simple procedure. |
