Discussion on Any luck with Splintex?

Hello-
I saw an ad for Splintex, a product which claims to reduce/eliminate splints-old or new. I e-mailed the company and they said, "The ingredients in Splintex increase pH level, oxygen tension and create a delayed healing fatigue in the local area." What about this process would cause a splint(they also claim curbs, osseletts...)to "disolve"? Any experiences with the product good/bad- I'd love to hear about them...Dr.O, they claimed that most of thier clients are vets- do you have any experience/input? Thanks.

I think that is all nonsense: It is the massaging action that helps reduce the splint.

Hi I've used the product w/success on my ponies with no scurfing or blistering, so when my Ch. Tb started to pop one I did not hesitate to use it on him (my ponies were Ch to) Well after one application it blistered him so bad that I had to stop showing him (the indoors were sand based and I was afraid of infection).

Hi Karen. Doesn't this show how different ponies can be even down to such fine detail, ie. what suits one may be a disaster to another. I would agree with Dr O that you might as well massage with engine oil, its the massage which does the trick.
As for substances which blister, I had an ear blocked with wax so I bought an over the counter preparation to try to shift it. In went a few DrOps and although I felt no pain, a few minutes later it drained out together with a great piece of skin which had burned off! Needless to say I through the bottle away and had my ear syringed to clear it.
