Discussion on Accessory carpal bone (knee)fracture
Author Message

My 13 yr old gelding had a fall in his pasture 6 months ago and has been lame in the right front ever since. Initial x-rays were normal, but we repeated them yesterday and a fracture of the accessory carpal bone was seen. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is there any treatment for this and any hope that he could be returned to use? I live within 2-3 hours of two excellent equine clinics and am ready to go if there is any hope of improving his situation.

Hello Susan,
Treatment and prognosis would depned on the nature of the fracture. Have the radiographs sent to Tufts for evaluation and recommendations.
