Discussion on Seasonal itch, would TriHist antihistamine be effective?

We have an appaloosa mare who gets itchy all over in spring and fall (in summer she gets sores under the belly but that is a different situation). It seems to me to be like the grass allergy dogs get to grass, leaves, pollen etc. Would the equine product TriHist help at all or would something like Azium be a better bet? Our weather has been cool and wet and there have not been any flies since this developed.

Hello Lois,
Your questions are answered in the article: The Horseman's Advisor: Equine Diseases: Skin Diseases: Culicoides Hypersensitivity: Sweet & QueensIand Itch. This is a more probable cause of your itching though difficult to prove.
