My new tb arrived without a front shoe. I kept it wrapped to protect it until the farrier arrived, to find raw skin on his heel a few days later. I thought it may have been from the home-made boot rubbing it, but the farrier said he had overreached. I have been trying to protect the wound by cleaning it, covering it and putting overreach boots on. Well, when I went to clean it out tonight, I noticed that he is developing rubs on the other pastern now from the overreach boots. AAAHH! Any thoughts on how I could be treating this better?? Thanks.

Yes quit the boots, I think they are the problem.
