Hi Dr O:
I have a mare that was bred on July l0 and is pregnant. This mare is a reiner and is shown competitively. She is used to a fairly heavy training program. I want to show her in mid-September and mid-October. Is this reasonable, or am I pushing her?

If she is in good shape I don't think the exercise is much of a risk, but there is some increased risk . Aslo I would be worried about exposure to strange horses: some common viral respirtroy diseases cause abortion and the vaccines are not 100%.
