I must be missing something - the vet keeps saying see article for details what article is he refering to? Questions? If a horse has stringhalt can he still back up normally? Does the hyperflexion of the hock jusr appear at the walk or can you see it at the trot and canter as well? I noticed above that someone wrote in and said the vet biopsed the horse to test wether stringhalt was the factor. I have never heard of this, what can a tissue sample tell you in regards to stringhalt? How does a vet diagnose this? If you go ahead with the surgery of cutting the lateral digital extensor tendon and that doesn't fix the hyperflexion does that rule out stringhalt? Maria

Hello Maria, All of the forums in The Advisor are attached to an article on the subject. If you got here by using the links you had to pass by that article. If you got here by a search you jumped over it. To go back to it click on the next step back in the navigation bar at the top of this page. The step back from here is the one marked » Stringhalt ». There you can access the article, which should answer most if not all your questions. DrO
