  Discussion on Swollen gland
Author Message

Our 5yo Thoroughbred has what seems to be a permanently swollen gland behind the jaw at the curve of his throat, similar to where our glands are under our jaw. One side only. You can manipulate it as you could a lipoma, in other words, it moves around easily but feels firm and mildly "squishy" at the same time. Otherwise, he seems quite healthy. Eats fine, runs, kicks and plays. Any ideas? I know humans can develop hardness in any gland permanently. My daughter had one behind her ear to feel similar to this for about 6 months. It finally went back to normal. I'd like to know if I should be concerned at all. I haven't had a vet look at it yet. He's had it since we have owned him, about 3 months. Thanks for any info
