Dr. O: 1 week ago I purchased a great 6yo overo paint gelding. Quiet, sane, well trained, impecable manners - but I've had a vet tell me "buyer beware" because......he seems to be in the early stages of stringhalt and is prone to lateral luxation of the superficial digital flexor tendon on the point of the hocks. Is this something that I should return him for (I have til this Friday) or it is something that may never materialize and I should just ride and enjoy him. I only want him for a pleasure horse - to trail ride and maybe some minor western pleasure showing - but that is it - I'm going on 40 and only want to enjoy my hobby these days and have a good time. But I don't want to take any chances if I'm looking a potential major problems right away. Thanks for your input...It's greatly appreciated.

Hello Karen, I cannot examine this horse and I do not know your goals so I cannot answer your questions. But if I were looking for a horse to ride, I would not buy one with stringhalt and lateral luxation of the SDF tendon. DrO
