Hello again,

Forgive me if I'm posting in all the old discussions, I'm just finding it interesting reading anything I can get my hands on that sounds similar to what I'm dealing with.

I'm guessing that cheet grass is foxtail - sounds like what I might be dealing with as well.

I'm going to rinse my mares mouth out tonight with salt water and see if I can get a better look at what's going on in there! I did notice when we first got her that she had bad breathe, so I'm not sure these sores and the quality of her gums could be caused by my hay. I've only had the mare approx. 3 weeks???

Could these sores develop that quickly? Is epson salt safe to use as an oral salt water rinse?

I'll keep reading & posting as stuff sounds familiar to what I'm dealing with!

Thanks, Lanna in BC

Hello Lana,
Let me help you a bit with our format. You are doing right tracking down articles and discussions that are related to your problem but you should not post haphazardly. Once you have collected together all the informtion on your horse and still have not found the answers to the questions you have you should start your own post and put all the information on your horse in one place: you will get more meaningful responses that way.
