Discussion on Insecticide treated fly sheet?
Author Message

My vet was out last week doing check ups on my boys. One has an allergy to either flies or gnats. She (the vet) was telling me she had heard that some company had come up with a treated fly sheet to help keep the flies and gnats at bay. Has anyone heard of this, know where to get one?

There is a fly sheet called Expel, I think, that is treated with pyrethrins. State Line Tack carries/carried it.

My own horse has this type of allergy.

Dr. O's site has an article about using alternate day therapy with pred something or other to keep the immune system from overracting to the bites.

I've been a bit resistent to using this therapy due to the drug rules, etc. by the AHSA.

However, I've tried most every other alternative treatment and have not had any results.

My last ditch effort was to try a Boett Pyjama, which is a light weight covering that basically encases the horse. Silke just started wearing hers 24/7 on Monday as she had begun to itch this week.
