  Discussion on Lump between jaws
Author Message

Hi Dr. O. I read your article on hyperthyroidism but am not sure if this the spot I'm looking at. My 11 yr old TB has a lump between his jaws back by but not on his neck about the size of a walnut. My 16 yr TB does not have this. I hadn't noticed this until today. Any ideas?

If I had to guess the lump is the result of a prior cold/flu/something that caused his lymph node(s) to swell, and the swelling never fully went down. My 17yo TB does not have any, but my 3yo Old does, and I know exactly when they appeared - when he was 6 months old when he came down with a cold.

I concur with Jordana, for more description of how to differentiate these swellings see: Equine Diseases: Skin Diseases: Diagnosing and Assessing Swellings in Horses.
