Consequently my radiotherapy has been held up a month so far, and I'm not sure when they will be ready. The site where they cut off most of my horses sarcoid for biopsy purposes I can tell its growing back. Its flat, completely dry and healed, would the crest toothpaste work on a closed epidermal layer? I'll take before and after photos.Ria Maguire |

I have never seen a study on the effectiveness of this therapy where a large number of cases are evaluated. For more traditional alternative see the article on Sarcoids.DrO |

Posted on Thursday, Oct 28, 2004 - 6:19 pm: Some vets in Tasmania are having quite a bit of success with a zinc chloride cream on the Sarcoids ...interesting that is what all the "herbal products" have in their base. Its such a powerful alkalotic I think it would act as an Escharotic wouldn't it? Cansema, Xxterrra,Cansemal and I'm not sure about the Liverpool cream or the toothpaste ...but I'm suspecting....It costs about $10 AUD. |

Posted on Friday, May 20, 2005 - 8:53 am: Hello to all. Dealing with ear sarcoids in a two year old and would like to try the Crest. Way too many choices in Wal-mart the other day. What kind did any one use - please be specific if you can!! They even have the baking soda/peroxide with whitening and tartar control in two flavors(would mint attract flies?) so you can see my problem!! Stacy |

Posted on Thursday, Jan 27, 2011 - 10:22 am: My beautiful mule Lily of the Valley has a walnut sized fibroblastic sarcoid on the inside of her upper right ear. The vet has recommended Xxterra Cream and I will be starting treatment today. I will be posting photos of my progress at atrailrider.com/lilyear.html. I am taking a big chance here this could go badly due to the location on the ear and drippage in to her ear causing an infection or eating away cartilage and making a hole in her ear. That along with getting her to hold still for the treatment. The vet has lots of encouragement that this should go well. Five days of cream, then leave it alone for ten days and see if another round is necessary. I am hoping the photos will help others with treatment. Open to any constructive criticism.

Posted on Friday, Jan 28, 2011 - 7:47 am: Welcome to Horseadvice Diane,I believe we can help you with your question but let me get you started off right so you can get the best answer as quick as possible. You will get more responses if you start your own discussion rather than post at the bottom on another member's discussion. Each discussion is "owned" by the original poster and all replies in that discussion should either directly or indirectly address the concerns of the original poster. To start your own discussion back up one page using the navigation bar at the top of this page. This will be a Article Page on this topic. Below the article you will find a list of already existing discussions on this topic. Under this list you will find the "Start New Discussion" button. This is a good topic on your subject so you should first review the article as it will have important information on your subject. Next check the titles of the already existing discussions to see if your question has already been answered. If your question remains unanswered, now is the time to Start a New Discussion. Select a short title that describes your specific concern. A title like "Help!!!" does not help others find your specific topic. Instead something like "Ace for Colic?" allows others to rapidly find and understand what your topic is about just by viewing the title. This is likely to bring more responses from those with some experience with your topic and allows members to find answers to their questions quicker. DrO |

Posted on Friday, Jan 28, 2011 - 9:48 am: Hi Diane. Your sarcoid looks very similar to the ones I dealt with years ago in my filly Libby. If you read the 8th thread, the one titled "Sarcoid in Ear", in the list of threads under the the Discussion on Sarcoid group you will see the before and after pics of our success with Xxterra. I was so amazed and pleased with the results and hope you have the same experience...welcome to HA by the way! Stacy |
